P5: Record the different sound elements
Recording Process
Day 1 did not go well as the microphones again didn’t work correctly, they didn’t record two of the actor’s voices which therefore made the recording unusable. This was due to the actors accidentally unplugging the mics when they sat down to record. This is also my fault as I did not check the recordings after each scene.
Day 2 went a lot better as the recordings all went through and the actors all performed well. This recording took about 1 hour, however we did not finish in one day as we still had the last two scenes to do.
Day 3 was the last couple scenes which were all recorded and there were no problems with the actors of equipment which was good. This lead to my voice recordings all being finished and now I only needed to record my other sound and download the music. So after the recording I went home and recorded most of the car sounds using my car and voice memos on IPhone, these came out well and can be added in during g the editing process.
Day 4 was when I downloaded all my different sounds that I couldn’t make in real life (car crash etc) and the music I needed for my piece, it took me a while to find the right sound effects as many sites wanted me to pay or make an account. However, I found all the sound effects I needed and they can now be added in during the editing stage. The music was easy to find as I just downloaded the songs on Apple Music and they are ready to be added.

M2: Present the sound elements to an audience to gain feedback
I made a questionnaire on my media product and sent it out to my class and other 18-25 year olds in order to receive feedback.
The feedback I received from my recordings (not edited together) Included:
- Good Foley Sounds, they sound realistic
- Voice Acting isn’t great, but that is due to only using students
- The Script is fun and hard hitting at the End
- Narration works well at the end as it gives a good message
- Some of the sounds are not hard limited and are slightly too loud
- some sounds are unbalanced and some are quieter than others
I will use this feedback to improve my piece during the editing process and hopefully it will come out well.

How my Production Meets the Brief
My product fits the client brief almost perfectly, it is around three minutes long, features the music and sound effects to keep the audience entertained, interesting dialogue and it shows the fun parts of drinking but, also the dangers of drink driving. Therefore it does not deter drinking completely which is what a lot of PSAs end up doing, but it shows the severe consequences of drink driving with a car crash and the narration at the end.
By using the client brief I believe that I have created a very successful radio PSA which is hard hitting, fun at times and it gets the message across to the target audience.
How My Product Attracts the Target Audience
The target audience for my product is 18-25 year olds as this is the main age group that go out drinking and partying due to universities and the type of music played at the big UK festivals. My product appeals to this audience through the type of music, setting and the dialogue choices. The music I used is drum and bass music which is very popular with the age group and is played at many popular UK festivals such as Boomtown, Sundown and Nas. The festival setting is something a lot of 18-25 year olds can relate to as many go to them over the summer. The language I use such as “G” and “b” is commonly used by this age group, this makes the dialogue sound more believable for the target audience.
How I am Going To Improve
Based on the feedback I received I need to hard limit my entire project as it peaks at multiple points when listening. Also some dialogue is too quiet compared to the rest, but this is due to the actual recording and not the editing. During the editing process I attempted to increase the sound of these lines of dialogue, but it didn’t work. Another piece of negative feedback I received was that the voice acting wasn’t great, I feel this due to the script being written for other actors who would have delivered the lines differently. However, I do feel that the lines were delivered as best they could be by the actors as the actors I had in mind were not available on the days I planned to record.
Overall I believe I created a good quality media product that meets the brief in all aspects and appeals to the target audience. I will act on my feedback I received which will hopefully improve it and make it even better.

I improved my final recording by hard limiting it so it does not go too loud and peak. This stops it from damaging any listener's ears and makes the sound quality better. Although on my feedback I was told some of the lines were too quiet I could not change this. I attempted to, but the problem is with the original dialogue recording and not the editing.
